Mr. Mom

So good thing I'm not in school anymore- geesh! A small army of bacteria invaded our house and attacked Aprille. No joke. It all started last Sunday when she was kind of feeling a little shakey and I said she should stay home from church. Did she? No. Am I suprised? Not really. Anyway, she went to church and by the time she came home she was having some serious issues. With all the strength of wild horses, I had to restrain myself from saying the words that would have surely come back to bite me, "I told you so." But I didn't and good thing because not 24 hours later she was throwing up and cemented to her bed. She could not move, could not walk, and could not talk. We believe she had the flu that mutated into an upper respiratory thing that is only just now clearing out.

I'll be honest. It was pretty bad. If I had pictures, I wouldn't post it. So, with Ape in bed I took off Monday and Tuesday. ICE STORM 2009 (Channel 8 weather, get over it) prevented me from going in until 1 pm on Wednesday, so I was able to stay home almost three days. Needless to say, I was Michael Keaton circa 1983 rockin' the Mr. Mom "hat". Let's just say I'm glad the ice melted on Wednesday. Is it possible to grow closer to your children in three days time and at the same time reach new levels of frustration? Koebe apparently can only remember things important to him and at the same time forget any instructions I give him in a moments notice. However, (WARNING: Proud Parent moment coming up) Koebe is doing great in school and was awarded a Gold Medal Reader award for January for improving his reading skills. On the other hand, Kalee........wow.

Um..maybe I shouldn't post anything about her. She is a daughter of God. She is a daughter of God. She is a daughter of God. But wow....she needs naps..most days. To her credit, she can be the BEST helper and an absolute dream. Case in point, she and I were home by ourselves Saturday morning and she did everything I asked her to do the first time and even offered to help me with "my chores." She is becoming uber smart, sassy and is picking up reading. She LOVES to write and has started spelling "Kalee, Koebe, Mom, Dad", etc...She is great, but ya, girl needs some downtime.
