Girls Rule, Boys Drool

The scales of fate have been tipped in favor of the X chromosomes. The men of our household ask for your prayers and support. The yet-to-be-named child of just 19 weeks is officially a girl! Note to self: the next house we buy WILL have a man-cave.

While we are all happy with the news, reactions to the news are varied. Kalee was first to hear the news. Here is how it went down:

Aprille: Kalee, do you know what I'm having?

Kalee: A baby.

Aprille: Yes, but do you know what it is?

Kalee: A girl!

Aprille: Yes, it's a girl!!!

Ok before I go any further, let me just add that what came out of Kalee's mouth is unedited and completely her. She didn't miss a beat.

Kalee: Ohhhh...Koebe is going to be so upset! We're having a girl! We're having a girl!

Koebe came home after school and upon hearing the news dropped to the ground in tears. It was a sad moment, not helped at all by Kalee. As Aprille is attempting to console Koebe by holding him on the couch, Kalee is right there whispering, "We're having a gir-rl!"

Girls mellow out as they get older, right? Right? Hello? ANYONE?!! So....21 weeks and counting! Suggestions for names? Serious entries only (and Shaunna if you're reading this your recommendation has already been reviewed- no double entries!!).

Cousins

Aprille's brother and his family came up this weekend. Seth and Betsy were troopers to haul their brood up the I 45 corridor to hang out with us for Easter weekend. Koebe and Kalee had tons of fun playing with their cousins and it was non-stop go-go-go while they were here.

Kalee was sad as soon as they left. Hopefully we'll get to see them again soon!

Death Match

If this were a duel to the death, then, I have officially lost. For those who may not be aware, I have been in a death match with my car. Yes, my car. We bought a 2000 Hyundai Sonata 8 years ago and even then it wasn't cool, but hey, it had a sunroof! We lived in the state of Washington. Ironic? Yes. Tragic? Even more so. Because, stay with me here, the car had a sunroof and we lived in a state with no sun. We were young and foolish...ah..those were the days.

Anyway, I swore that I would drive that piece of hud into the ground. Sadly, my patience wore out before I could see that day and I traded up for a new car. I wish I could say the Sonata and I had some good times, but I'll be honest, there really weren't any. Why? Here are the top reasons why the Sonata was the un-fun car:

10. The CD player broke 3 years ago
9. The windshield had a 4 year old crack in it from top to bottom
8. The driver's seat was broken (hard to explain, but annoying nonetheless)
7. The body of the car was completely totaled over a year ago from a hail storm
6. The front passenger window would never roll all the way up, so not only did it let rain in, it would make a "beautiful" high-pitched whine as I drove down the freeway---everyday.
5. The rear driver-side passenger window broke and wouldn't roll down
4. The sunroof broke, not once, but twice!
3. The door locks broke so that every time I started the car, I had to hold the lock on the driver side, otherwise it would lock me in and I wouldn't be able to open the door from the inside, but have to crawl through the passenger side door.
2. Even my boss and coworkers said my car was a piece of crap
1. Drum roll........the a/c broke 3, count 'em, 3 years ago for the second time AND did I mention I lived in Texas for all three years? Yes. I drove for three summers with NO A/C!!!!

After being tortured with this car for the last 8 years, I decided I needed to break things off. I ditched it for some new wheels. Meet my new friend, a 2009 Magnetic Gray Camry LE with 7 miles on it:
