Are We There Yet?

Unfortunately, no. We are still 4 weeks away from the arrival of our little girl. Is Aprille ready? Probably. Am I ready? Probably not. Going 4+ years without having a baby can give you a good case of the nerves. You forget how small they are and how much attention they require- in a good way of course! But, having two kids that are nearly self-sufficient has been a pleasant experience.
Speaking of "are we there yet?", we did shoot down to Houston to visit our friends Ryan and Shauna just before the 4th. Apparently we need to take our kids on more road trips. We go about as far south as Dallas, so sitting in a car longer than 45 minutes is a new experience for the rug-rats. Thank goodness for the dvd player. Geesh...kids are spoiled. Wish I had a dvd player when we had road trips as a kid. Heck, I would have settled for riding on something other than vintage 80's maroon faux leather so I wouldn't need a spatula to get my legs out of the car during pit stops!
Vacation was good. Correction, our "staycation" was great. We didn't plan anything and did what we wanted each and every day. Go to a movie? Sure! Want to cook dinner? Heck no! The freedom was really nice and really relaxing. If only it could have been longer....alas, my thirst for laziness and vacations will never be quenched!
Since then, I've been hitting the road pretty hard. Vegas, Chicago, Minneapolis and DC all in the past three weeks. It's a little nuts. Thankfully my mom was able to come out and help while I was gone the full week in Chicago (great city by the way- highly recommend it!). The kids are enjoying their summer, taking swim lessons, going to adventure club and helping mommy get ready for their new sister.
The other day they were all out on the patio and Kalee, apparently having had enough of the heat, told Aprille, "Momma, can you turn the sun off?". Koebe is really into these KidzBop cds we've gotten and loves to rock out and sing to them. Anyway- enough for tonight! Till next time....
