Hello, Cruel World!

What a week indeed! First, we start of with the a/c breaking just as we end summer. Good news, you say? Well, yes and no. Yes, at the end and not in the middle! We only endured a relatively uncomfortable night until we were able to get a repair man who was "sure" our warranty was only good for 2 years, until we refreshed his memory with a warranty statement. Who says there aren't any honest service professionals out there?!

No, when we realized that it had really been broken all summer, thus solving our mystery of why our electricity bill was 150+ more than normal each month. Talk about a bummer. But, it's fixed and we learned some important lessons: hold onto your warranty information and if your bill ain't right, it's cause something's broke!

Continuing on to Tuesday, my car went into the shop. Quite honestly, the car needed to go in the shop years ago, but I have a hard time donating to lost causes. But I relented and got the car fixed.

So, that brings me to today- Sunday. The day of rest. Well, not so much in my world. Why? Well, because I'm in the hospital. What? How? Who? Where? So yesterday, I was studying finance at the library, something I dread doing. I started feeling a little nauseous and used it as a good excuse to cut my studying short. I headed home and by the time I got there, I was in more pain, to the point of being rendered useless, lying on the couch, telling Koebe and Kalee to watch Animal Planet, even if the grizzly bears were scary.

Around 5:30, I was able to walk around and even had friends over and cooked dinner! I was "healed." Not so much. Around 2:30 am, again, I felt these pains in my side and got up and took some pills and passed out till Kalee's voice broke the morning silence, "Oh, good morning mom! I'm hungry!".

Aprille, convinced I had appendicitis, pushed me to go to an urgent care and get checked out. After wasting 2 hours of my life, and trust me, it really was a waste- who opens a doctor's office and doesn't stock any good magazines?!!! So, after finally getting back to see the doc, they tell me I should go to the ER as they wouldn't be able to conclusively diagnose my problem. Sweet- you wasted my time and took my money!

Off to the ER and 5 hours later, I am sitting on a bed with an IV and this annoying thing attached to my finger that makes it incredibly difficult to type. I have appendicitis. My wife was right (I'll be trademarking that and printing it on t shirts available for purchase from this blog!). Anyway, I thought, I've got my laptop, no idea when I'll actually get a real room or when they're going to cut me open, so heck! Why not post something to my blog! Ah, there. That feels much better. Wish me luck!

T-dog, I called your house the other week and couldn't get a hold of you. Then I called your cell phone and I got some random message that played ghetto rap music with a drunk guy at the end trying to say "leave me a message". Call me when you get a chance, I have a ton of updates for you. Email me your cell phone number. brianrusselldc@gmail.com

Alohas,

Brian
