Da Kine: A Metaphor for Life

Is that deep or what? I couldn't think of anything cool and creative to call our new blog, so I opted for the words of last resort as used in our previous place of residence- Hawaii: da Kine! Da Kine is a multi-faceted phrase. It can mean "this", "that", "you know!", "awesome", among other things. So, that's it- this is da kine! You get it? Do you feel me?

I should probably start out by bringing you up to speed on where we are at. I work at Samsung doing shows, events, and the Olympics (check out samsung.com/torchrelay!). Most days I honestly feel like I am on the Apprentice, except my boardroom is a cubicle and Donald Trump is my Korean boss, Jong, who Aprille thinks I have created as a figment of my imagination because the stories are too ridiculous for description AND after working here for more than a year and a half, she has yet to meet him! Not to mention, I am also taking 3 classes towards my MBA which I feel I have been doing for an eternity. Only 6 more classes to go!

Aprille (I will speak on her behalf because she has no choice- that's what you get for holing yourself up in "scrapbook land" on the weekends!) has her hands ful
l with everything. Kalee to dance class, Koebe to preschool, helping out friends and looking fabulous (she always does :)). I won't go into more until she is actually standing here because I often get my Christmas newsletters edited heavily by her, so I can only imagine what she would do to this blog!

Koebe is doing well in preschool and moving on from one school and getting transitioned into a private preschool versus continuing at the school. Don't ask me to explain it because even after Aprille has gone through numerous school meetings, etc, she doesn't quite have it figured out either! He is very excited about Halloween and wanted to be Buzz or Woody, but has definitely decided on being a mummy- that was out of left field! The part of my day is driving up to drop him off at school while he hangs out the window (he's still buckled of course) screaming to his teachers waiting at the curb- "Miss Michelle!!! Miss Amy!!! Miss Michelle!! Miss Amy!!! It's me! Koebe Lambert! I slept in the white bed last night!!" (Sometimes he'll sneak into the guest room where there is a white comforter). He is also into singing songs and playing on instruments. The video is of him singing to his Grandpa Lambert on the phone.

Kalee. Where do you start with a girl like her? Two going on 12 and she knows it. She can't get out of bed in the morning without dragging her pink blanket and pink pillow with her EVERYWHERE. She is enrolled in dance and loves to wear her "dancey-dance"- or her dresses and dance clothes. She loves to color and thankfully she spends about the first 30 minutes of church coloring away until she starts to get territorial with the crayons and gets in trouble.

Well- this is a start. And hopefully it won't be the end! Stay tuned for more!

Glad to see youve joined the blog world. I am also a fan of Damages....I have them all on my DVR, but have only been able to watch the Pilot.

Love it! Your family is adorable. I still can't believe we have kids and that they're so darn cute and full of mischief. Good luck with your MBA and hopefully we'll see you in TX next year.

So I found your blog from the Reynolds...fun! So we just saw you like on Saturday at Target and the next day you were in the hospital. Holy cow! Hope everything goes well.

And I just had to say that I really enjoy your blog being titled "da kine" I had totally forgotten about that fun phrase. When we were at BYUH and lived with this Polynesian family the husband literally threw that in every other word he said! Good memories!
